A Journey of Faith, Resilience, and New Beginnings
In January 2025, a courageous young woman joined our Recuperation Program at Whole Person Care Clinic. Originally from Colombia, she came to the United States alone in 2023, fleeing threats she faced as a journalist. Although she has chosen to keep many personal details private, she has allowed us to share the heart of her story—a journey defined by strength, perseverance, and grace.
When she first arrived, her circumstances were heartbreaking. She had recently undergone a cesarean section, lost her infant daughter, and was living out of her car. With no support system and little hope, she was in the midst of deep grief and depression when she was referred to WPCC.
From the moment she entered our Recuperation Program, things began to shift. She described feeling a sense of peace and safety, as if she had been led here by divine intervention. Motivated by her faith and the belief that God would guide her healing, she began taking steady steps toward rebuilding her life.
Soon after entering the program, she found part-time work at La Bufadora and El Pollo Campero. Her work ethic and warm spirit didn’t go unnoticed—she was soon promoted to a management position at El Pollo Campero. It was a meaningful achievement that marked a turning point in her journey.
With the help of WPCC Housing Navigator Rita, she began searching for permanent housing. After months of determination and budgeting, she secured an apartment in Riverside. With support from the program, she furnished her new home and officially moved in—a major milestone and symbol of her newfound stability.
Today, she continues to thrive. She remains in her management role, lives independently, and is focused on building a future full of purpose and hope. She regularly shares her gratitude with the WPCC team, acknowledging the critical role that compassionate care and community played in her recovery.
Her story is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when faith meets opportunity—and when people are given the space and support to heal.
